Wilma Lorraine Flasch of Piedmont, Oklahoma was called home to be with her Savior Friday, November 2, 2018 at the age of 76 with family by her side.
She was born on June 14, 1942, to Charles William Merrill and Jessica Lorraine Merrill in Oklahoma City. Raised in a devout Lutheran family, her parents brought her for Holy Baptism on January 28, 1951, at Faith Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City.
She was raised in Oklahoma City along with her six siblings and extended family. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School.
As a youth and young adult, she was active in Walther League where she met many friends and her husband, Robert Lee Flasch Sr. They married on December 2,1961 at Faith Lutheran Church. After marrying they lived in Oklahoma City for several years, moved to Bethany, and later to Piedmont where they have lived for more than 43 years.
The family attended St. John’s Lutheran church in Okarche where Wilma taught children’s Sunday school, was a part of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) and served the church in many ways. During Wilma’s working years, she served multiple roles at Francis Tuttle Technology Center. After retiring, Wilma enjoyed spending time with her husband, playing cards, bowling, spending time with friends, reading her Bible, and learning about her family history.
She loved spending time with her grandkids, celebrating holidays with family, and taking road trips with the love of her life to Austin to visit their son and family.
Wilma will be fondly remembered by her husband of 57 years, Robert Flasch Sr., two daughters, Sheri Jackson (Ray), Glenda Cohrs, and son Robert Lee Flasch Jr. (Kim); her seven grandchildren, Tamara Barker, Jennifer Watt (Brandon), Jace Wall, Stacy Yates (Mark), Thomas Cohrs, Branagan Flasch, Caleb Flasch and Jaylynn Jackson; three brothers, Charles Merrill (Jeannie), Joe Merrill (Brenda), and Roy Merrill (Lisa).
She will also be remembered by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jessica Merrill; her sisters, Delberta Haywood and Joyce Palmer; and brother, Terry Webster.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 8, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 308 164th St., Edmond, OK with interment immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the youth program at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
