Warriors polish off Eagles 13-4 before heading to Hennessey Tournament

The Warriors split a pair of games to start the week, improving to 5-3 on the season.
Okarche dropped its third loss of the season Monday, falling 13-4 to Class 3A No. 11 Hinton at home.

The Warriors jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first inning, but trailed 5-3 after the third. Okarche was outscored 8-1 in the final four innings on route to the loss.

Okarche racked up 10 hits, including three from Hayley Coffey, who also scored two runs, and two from Kammie Benson. Faith Maberry, Lyric Hickok, Katie Bomhoff, Chloe Wanger and Hannah Goble each recorded a hit, including a homerun by Maberry.

Bomhoff picked up the loss, giving up just five earned runs on 13 hits and a walk over six complete innings. The Warriors committed nine errors behind her.

Hennessey 2

A six-run second inning spurred the Warriors to their fifth win of the season, 6-2 over Class 4A Hennssey at home on Tuesday.

After falling behind 2-0 through an inning and a half, Okarche exploded with five hits and walk, including a homerun by Faith Maberry and a double by Chloe Wanger. Raegan Robinson, Hayley Coffey, Lyric Hickok and Savannah Mingus each produced base-hits in the inning while Kammie Benson drew a walk.

The two teams played shutout baseball the rest of the way, leading to the four-run win for Okarche.

Katie Bomhoff picked up the win for the Warriors, giving up two earned on nine hits and three walks in the complete game effort.

The Warriors now turn their sights to the 2019 Hennessey Tournament this weekend. They take on Class 3A Pioneer-Pleasant-Vale today at 1 p.m. before taking on Class 5A Kingfisher at 4 p.m.

Okarche opens up action Friday against Class A Dover at 1 p.m. before closing out the double-header against Hennessey at 2:30 p.m.
