Okarche loses two Thursday, wins two Friday to close out spring break

WAUKOMIS – The Warriors picked up a pair of wins at the 2019 Pioneer Tournament, closing out a four-game, spring break set.

The Warriors opened Friday with a 11-4 win over Glencoe, dropping 12 hits, including five for extra bases while giving up just four hits in five innings.

Four players collected at least two hits for Okarche, including Dalton Schwarz, Tucker Neuenschwander, Bryce Reece and Nick Baustert. Reece led the way, going 2-for-3 with a double, a homerun and four RBIs. Baustert drove in two runs with a double, Schwarz drove in one with a triple and Neuenschwander went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Okarche scored seven runs in the first two innings, including five in the first, for a 7-3 lead.
Schwarz led the game off with a single before scoring on a rip by Neuenschwander for the early advantage. Two batters later, following a Preston Hawk single, Reece crushed a three-run bomb to right-center for a 4-0 lead. Carson Baustert followed by reaching on an error and scored on an RBI-single by Jayton Crider to close out the frame.

Carson Jacobs picked up a one-out double for the first hit of the second inning before scoring on a Neuenschwander single. Two batters later, Reece drove in Neuenschwander with a double for his fourth RBI of the game and a four-run lead.

Okarche tacked on one run in the third and three in the top of the fifth on route to the win.
Nick Baustert reached on a two-out single in the third inning before reaching third on an error and later scoring on a wild pitch. Reece led off the fifth by reaching on an error before a single by Carson Baustert. Nick Baustert plated both runs with a double before scoring on an RBI-triple by Schwarz for the 11-4 advantage.

Nuenschwander picked up the win, giving up four runs in four innings on four hits and six walks with seven strikeouts. Evan Endres pitched the fifth inning, throwing just nine pitches with two strikeouts.

OKARCHE 13
MORRISON JV 5

The Warriors closed out the double-dip with a run-rule win over Morrison High School’s junior varsity squad.

Okarche scored 13 runs on just five hits and two Morrison errors for the victory. Bryce Reece stayed hot for the day, going 2-for-2 off the bench with a double and three RBIs. Tucker Neuenschwander, Carson Baustert and Nick Baustert each recorded a hit.

The Warriors jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first two innings before giving up five runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game. Framel’s squad responded with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to close out the victory.

Even Endres picked up the win, giving up five unearned runs on three hits, two walks and three Okarche errors over three and one-third innings. Cody Read recorded the final two outs, giving up a hit with two strikeouts.
