Okarche’s seniors left their home field in style Monday.
The Warriors knocked off Dover, 8-2 in the final home game of the season and the final home game of Kammie Benson, Faith Maberry, Sara Bomhoff and Katie Bomhoff’s high school careers.
Dover was first to score with run in the top of the second inning, but Okarche answered right back, plating three runs in the bottom half. The Warriors took their three-run lead and ran away for a six-run win, the team’s 12th of the year.
Chloe Wanger reached on a walk to start the bottom of the second and later scored on a single by Marly Hill. Sara Bomhoff and Raegan Robinson reached on back-to-back single before Bomhoff scored on a third straight knock by Hayley Coffey before a RBI-single by Maberry.
The Warriors tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the third to extend the lead.
Katie Bomhoff reached on a one-out single and after a walk to Wanger, scored on an RBI-knock by Ady Arms. Two batters later, Sara Bomhoff drove in Arms with a single for a 5-1 advantage.
Dover got back on the board after two scoreless innings, scoring once in the top of the sixth. However, Okarche answered with three runs in the bottom half to cap the win.
Maberry reached with a one-out double before a walk to Arms and a single by Benson loaded the bases. Katie Bomhoff plated a run with a walk in the follow at-bat before a run-scoring single by Wanger to extend the lead to 7-2. Arms followed with a single to drive in Bomhoff for the six-run lead.
The four seniors combined for eight of the team’s 20 hits in the win. Maberry and Sara Bomhoff each went 3-for-4, Maberry with a double and two single and Bomhoff with three singles while each drove in a run. Benson went 1-for-1 with a single and three walks and Katie Bomhoff went 1-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored.
Katie Bomhoff recorded the final home win of her high school career, tossing all seven innings from the circle while allowing two earned runs on 13 hits with three strikeouts.
