Okarche police are baffled by a strange break-in at Stroh’s Surplus last month.
Police received a call that to investigate a possible burglary around 7:15 a.m. on June 18 from Scott Stroh.

“Scott advised he found his office ransacked,” the officer’s report reads. “Storage cabinets open and pilfered through, store items on the floor and shoe prints on the counter. Scott could not identify any merchandise or currency missing at the time of this report.”

The intruder apparently entered the building from the back where a panel had been removed.

“It is believed the suspect gained entry utilizing this opening,” the report reads. “Scott advised the entry point used to hold an air conditioner unit and once removed, the square opening was covered with a piece of tin and screws.”

A second area also showed a piece of tin which had been peeled back which allowed someone to see inside the building. Police did not find any items stashed in the area or suspects, the report states.

Reportedly, there was a Tahoe parked under the railroad bridge next to the building around the time of the break-in. Okarche Police Chief Forrest Smith said he could not discuss the case because the incident remains under investigation.
