No. 19 Okarche knocks off Fargo on the road for fourth win in five games

FARGO – The Warriors cruised to their fourth win in five games last Friday night, knocking off Fargo-Gage/Ft Supply/Arnett 8-1.

The Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning, giving starting pitcher Bryce Reese plenty of room to work with before even taking the mound.

Nick Baustert led off the game with a walk and later scored on an error at first base for a 1-0 lead. Preston Hawk reached on a two-out fielder’s choice and scored as Reese reached on an error for a 2-0 lead before a Jayton Crider walk. Christian Estep followed with a two RBI double to make it 4-0.

After giving up a run in the bottom of the first an an error and a hit, Okarche struck again for two runs in the top of the second.

Nick Baustert reached on a one-out error and scored on a double by Carson Jacobs to make it 5-1. Carson Baustert followed with a second straight double to score Jacobs and extend the lead to 6-1.

After a pair of scoreless frames, the Warriors added on to their lead in the fifth inning.
Nick Baustert got things going again with a lead-off single before scoring on a double by Carson Baustert to make it 7-1. Carson Baustert stole second and later scored on an error to extend it to 8-1 and eventually seal the win. Carson Baustert finished with two doubles in the game while Jacobs and Estep also finished with two hits apiece.

Reese picked up the win, allowing just one run through four innings. He finished with six strikeouts and threw just 58 pitches.

The Warriors travel to Ripley for the 2019 Ripley High School Invitational. They open up against Riverside today at 2 p.m.
