Construction began this week for pavement/sidewalk reconstruction along Oklahoma Avenue between U.S. 81 and First Street.

During the project, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) says intermittent lane closures and temporary sidewalk closures will continue through the summer of this year. Construction also will impact on-street parking on Oklahoma Ave. during various phases of the project.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to plan for delays in the area from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday with the possibility of some weekend closures as necessary.

While at least one entrance will be maintained for each impacted business for as long as possible, there will be temporary closures longer than a day while new sidewalk is installed.

Some areas may have temporarily restricted access.

The $1.9 million project was awarded to Schiralli Construction Corp. in June 2019 and is expected to complete by late summer 2020, weather permitting.
