Warriors nearly upset 2A No. 2

CASHION – The Warriors gave the second-ranked team in Class 2A a run for its money Tuesday night in the final regular season game of the year.

Okarche fell to the Wildcats 56-51 even after a 19-13 run in the final eight minutes and a 11-9 run in the third quarter.

A 16-11 opening quarter run by Cashion followed by a 18-10 run in the second ultimately decided the game.

The Warriors were led by three players in double digits, including senior Kaleb Harris with 18 points.

He also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists. Junior Joseph Schaefer scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds and junior Logan Kroener scored 12 points with six boards and six helpers.

Sophomore Evan Endres  scored four points and sophomore Brayden Stover scored two.
Okarche held Cashion to just 37-percent shooting, including just 7-for-24 from three-points range.

The Warriors also won the rebounding battle 37-35 and scored 17 second-change points.

The Warriors now turn their sights to the 2020 district tournament Saturday night at home.

They host Moss at 8 p.m. with a spot in the regional winners bracket on the line.

The regional tournament is scheduled for Feb. 20-22 at Moss. Following regional action is area Feb. 27-20 at Bethel High School.
