Kingfisher County Commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday to close the courthouse to the public.

The courthouse, 101 S Main Street, will be closed until April 6. The election board will continue to conduct business by telephone, email and mail. Business hours may be changed depending on situations, according to a news release from the election board.

The sheriff’s office and all district commissioner offices will be open as usual.

The election board can be reached at Kingfishercounty@elections.ok.gov or call (405) 375-3895.

Kingfisher County Sheriff Dennis Banther said the west lobby doors will be open to the public to enter and drop off paperwork into a box or basket for the office needed.

The sheriff’s office will be open to the public.

“We will be open as we are a core function within government. We will always be open,” Banther said.

Meanwhile, health officials report for those who are sick and experiencing symptoms to stay at home.  In an effort to reduce the spread of the virus at local emergency rooms and urgent care facilities, call your primary doctor and let them assess the situation.

For those who don’t have a primary care doctor call the toll free number for the COVID-19 Call center at (877) 215-8336.
