Okarche Town Hall is closed due to state of emergency proclamation

Although there are no reported cases of the COVID-19 in town, Okarche’s trustees have declared an emergency.

Recognizing, “potential imminent peril to lives and property” the trustees have closed Town Hall and the police station to the public until further notice.

There are 49 cases statewide, including two cases in Canadian County. One death has been reported in Tulsa County and 19 cases are reported in Oklahoma County Friday.

The Okarche Trustees approved a proclamation Thursday that went into effect at noon. Yukon, Piedmont and Canadian County emergencies were declared by officials this week as well.

The Okarche proclamation states that all offices, including Town Hall and the police department, are closed to the public. City employees will be present in such buildings to answer the telephone and emails.Utility bills can be paid by telephone or drive-thru at the local bank, by mail or by depositing checks or money orders in the 24-hour drop box at Town Hall.
