After days of low supplies on shelves in stores across Canadian County, the work to restock continues Saturday.

Sam Paker of Kingfisher, who works at Braum’s in Yukon, said Saturday afternoon he has never seen so many stores without groceries in his life. He said he “had never seen anything like it!”

In Okarche, Eischen’s was open for carry-out, a supervisor said. Business had been steady Saturday afternoon, he said in a quick telephone call. The nearest grocery store in Okarche is in Kingfisher at United Supermarket.

Woody’s Liquor store, 121 S Main, was open normal hours, a clerk said.

Okarche Town Trustees declared a state of emergency and closed Town Hall and the police station to the public on Thursday.

Meanwhile, at the Yukon Target, long-time employee Richard Lee restocked shelves with soup Saturday morning.

Lee said canned soup was “blowing out the door,” as shoppers arrived.

In Oklahoma Saturday, 53 cases of coronavirus have been reported with two of the cases in Canadian County, 20 cases in Oklahoma County and 12 cases in Cleveland County, the Oklahoma State Health Department reported.
