Severe storms possible Saturday night

Wind advisory issued for Easter Sunday

There is a chance for severe weather in the Okarche area Saturday night, the National Weather Service reported.

And a wind advisory has been issued for Sunday.

Storms with winds up to 70 mph, heavy rain and hail moved into southwest Oklahoma about 7:40 p.m. and moved eastward from Altus toward Lawton. A tornado watch was issued for several counties in southwest Oklahoma.

On Sunday, the wind advisory is for 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. with gusts up to 55 mph.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Storm chances increase before 1 a.m. Sunday. The local forecast from the weather service follows:

Saturday night
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10 p.m. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. South wind 14 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
Sunday
A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 73. Windy, with a south wind 13 to 18 mph becoming northwest 24 to 29 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.
Sunday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 29. Windy, with a north wind 28 to 33 mph decreasing to 20 to 25 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 47 mph.
Monday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. North wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
