Artwork created by Holy Trinity students will hang at OKC Civic Center

Several Holy Trinity Catholic School students in Okarche have been recognized for their winning artwork in a recent contest sponsored by the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, the Oklahoma City Orchestra League and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

The students are in music teacher Lisa Francel’s classes.

“I am so proud of all of them,” Francel said.

“It’s a pretty awesome study of the disciplines art and music,” Francel said.

 

The first place seventh grade winner is Harper White. The eighth grade first place winner is Blair Tilton. Emily Sommer took second place in the seventh grade division and Susan Regan placed third in the seventh grade.

Other Holy Trinity Catholic School site winners were Daniel Ross and Daniel Lagaly.

Copies of all the artwork submitted will be mounted and hung in the Civic Center Music Hall for the Classics Concert, and at the Discovery Family Series Concert. Dates have been postponed due to COVID-19 and will be announced later.

Scanned images of the first, second and third place winners’ artwork will be projected above the Oklahoma City Philharmonic during the Discovery Family Series Concert during the performance of “Perpetuum Mobile,” the competition piece. The date will be announced.Additionally, after the artworks premier at the Civic Center, a video featuring the above winners will be released on social media. There will also be a reception held at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

piece music, “Perpetuum Mobile” by Johann Strauss II and completed their own work of art.

A group of three judges listened to the competition piece and viewed all the artwork without knowing who the artists were. The studentwinners receive two free tickets to the Discovery Concert. Those six pieces then competed for a “Grand Prize” provided by the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Education office.
