A route has been set for the Okarche High School prom parade Friday, May 8.

Although the prom was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a parade will make up for it.

In a letter to Okarche Schools students and parents, teacher Brandi Knecht Krittenbrink released details for the juniors and seniors who want to ride in the parade Friday, May 8.

“Since prom didn’t happen as we had planned we thought a Prom Parade would be a great way for the students to get together while still practicing social distancing,” Krittenbrink writes.

Students should make two poster board signs to place on both sides of their vehicle with their names on it. Only one to two students are allowed per vehicle.

Students are asked not to get out of their vehicles or walk around in the parade. Students will be allowed to ride in the back of a pickup but no trailers are allowed.

“We will provide painter’s tape to tape the name signs to the vehicles,” Krittenbrink reports.

Students are encouraged to wear their prom outfits if they can. Students can even wear a crown.

“We are encouraging students to wear their prom outfits if they still have them, if not that’s OK wear something nice and join in. ”

“If you would like to wear a crown, that is OK everyone is HOCO queen this year! We will weave through some of the neighborhoods in Okarche. If you live out of town or have family that would like to watch, please park at the town park with the pool and the parade will swing by there,” Krittenbrink wrote.

Updates can be found on the school website and on their Facebook page.
