A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Thursday night for storms capable of producing large hail and high winds across Central Oklahoma, including Canadian County, the National Weather Service reported.

The watch is issued until 3 a.m. Friday

There is an 80% chance for rain. Wind gusts could be up to 80 mph with heavy rain and baseball size hail.

The Okarche area forecast follows:

Thursday night: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10 p.m. Some of the storms could be severe. Low around 52. South wind 10 to 20 mph becoming north after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
