The best way to liquidate assets, especially if the seller has a lot to liquidate or large items to liquidate, remains through auctions.
Broker, and owner of Ken Carpenter Auction and Realty LLC, 136 W. Highway 152 in Mustang, Ken Carpenter said, “It’s the easiest and quickest way to liquidate assets, and gets the most money in the sellers’ pockets. It’s an excellent way for the seller to get good prices. “
Carpenter is the broker for the Luschen Family live, onsite auction, which includes an incredibly massive amount of farm equipment from three generations of the family.
The auction will begin 9 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at 1405 Edmond Road NE in Piedmont, which is the location of the Luschen farm.
Interested parties are able to view the items, which will be auctioned, on Carpenter’s web site. “This auction is live only, with no online bidding, because that’s the way the family wants it,” said Carpenter. “An auction is the best way to liquidate the assets of a multi-generational family, for the most dollars. We can market it in one day and get it sold, and the Luschen Family property cleaned up.”
Throughout his career, Carpenter has done dozens of multi-generational auctions. And annually, he does at least several.
Carpenter said, “It’s not unusual for multiple generations of a family to do an auction like this. And it’s not unusual for a family to hold onto farm equipment going back multiple generations. They just keep it in their barns, and on their property and it accumulates.”
The Luschen Family is not selling their farm lands, but they are retiring from farming.
Carpenter, who will be the auctioneer, said it will take most of the day to auction off all of the items. “We’ll sell every single item. People will come with trailers, or they can come, leave what they purchased, and return to pick up the items later.”
Although this auction begins at 9 a.m., people will likely start to arrive by 8:30 a.m., and there will be pasture parking on sale day. Carpenter expects about 300 people to attend, and says they will likely come from as far away as Texas.
The Luschen items include a large number of hard-to-find antiques. Among the antiques are a drill press, a 1 row horse drawn planter, and a forge.
Carpenter said, “We were going to do this auction in March. But we had to postpone it due to COVID-19.”
