Alfred J. Meyer died August 16, 2020, at St. Katharine Drexel Retirement Center in El Reno. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday (August 20) at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastors Joel Heckmann and Jeff Klade officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Alfred was born December 10, 1932, in Okarche where he resided his entire life farming, raising cattle, and caring for his family. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School for 8 years before transferring to Okarche High School graduating in 1950. Alfred was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church serving as an elder and treasurer.
He is survived by a sister, LaVerne Waggoner of El Reno; nephews, Terry Waggoner and fiancée, Charlotte, of Tonkawa, Jim Waggoner and wife, Pattie, of El Reno, Wayne Waggoner and wife, Susie, of Okarche; and niece, Carol Bosler and husband, Joe, of Union City; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
His parents, Henry A. and Mary (Bomhoff) Meyer; brother, Erwin Henry Meyer; and sister, Maryann Louis Meyer, preceded him in death.
Memorials in his name may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
