There is no denying that Okarche High School senior Blake Henrichs is immersed in agriculture. This young rancher gets involved in learning every aspect he can regarding the topic. As the President of the Okarche FFA Chapter, Henrichs not only learns but leads.

“I love that agriculture education class provides us with opportunities for leadership, and the chance to meet other people with a passion for the industry that’s given so much to every one of us,” Henrichs said.

Henrichs grew up in Okarche on the farm and ranch that his family has owned for five generations. He has shown cattle for nine years that were raised on that ranch.

“I show registered breeding heifers, and Angus and Simmental heifers on a state and national level,” Henrichs stated.

Henrichs showed two heifers at the Kingfisher County Livestock Show in August.

Having researched the genetics that were used to produce his heifers, Enrichs stated that they are “both heifers with superior angus genetics that I’m very proud of.”

“The hardest part about showing cattle is the work ethic that is involved with it. It takes a lot of time and commitment to do it right, and to the highest extent.”

The son of Jeff and Allison Henrichs, Blake has been active at Okarche High School in the Beta Club, the National Honor Society, and Student Council. Outside of school, he holds a few prestigious titles – including being treasurer of the Oklahoma Angus Association and Vice President of the Oklahoma Junior Cattlemen’s Association.

After high school, Henrichs plans on attending Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in agriculture. While he is undecided on his major, he enjoys learning about new and innovative ways to mass produce beef.

And while he’s not at college in Stillwater just yet, his Agriculture Education instructor, Cody Dean, said he sees nothing but success in Henrichs’ future.

“Blake is extremely passionate about agriculture. He’s also super intelligent. This is just the kind of kid any teacher would be proud to have, and I’m pleased he’s in my program. Blake is a great kid.”
