EL RENO – Redlands Community College’s combination of on-campus and online courses along with its concurrent program has led to an increase in enrollment for the fall semester, according to a news release from the college.. Enrollment is still open for eight-week classes, which begin Oct. 12.
“With the current situation, we were prepared for a decrease, but our staff worked hard to meet the needs of new and current students and provide them with the classes they needed, whether on campus or online,” Redlands President Jack Bryant said. “We’re very pleased to see a 2.2% increase overall and a 6.8% increase in concurrent enrollment. Additionally, housing occupancy is at maximum capacity.”
Redlands has been a provider of concurrent enrollment to high school students for more than 30 years, according to the news release. Academic advisers worked with counselors and directly with students over the past several months to help them enroll for the fall semester. Students in numerous school districts are being instructed either on their high school campus, at Redlands, online or via interactive educational television.
High school juniors and seniors are able to take college classes tuition free, so the only expense is fees or textbooks. This year, the Redlands Community College Foundation is offering scholarships each semester to help offset the fees for concurrent enrollment.
“Our students have been amazing, and they are engaging in their classes,” Bryant said.
“During this challenging time, I am so appreciative of our faculty and staff who are doing an excellent job of providing instruction and support services to help our students succeed,” the release states.
