The rare, late October ice storm that has kept the state in a frosty grip since Monday has caused more than 300 power outages in Okarche.
Trees heavy with ice have fallen and lost branches, many that have collapsed on power lines.
At 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co. had reported 334 power outages in Okarche.
Lines were down in the median along Yukon’s Main Street, State Highway 66 on the east side of the city.
Power was also out in Surrey Hills along Northwest Expressway. Piedmont had 2,699 outages Wednesday morning.
Power was out in several housing additions of Okarche, Town Clerk Dana Reese said.
CimarronElectric Cooperative in Kingfisher reported transmission lines down that feed the Concho and Calumet substations. Crews were working to make repairs at several substations, the cooperative reported.
Piedmont had 4,162 outages Wednesday morning.
There were 6,760 power outages in Yukon, OG&E reported.
Overnight, power lines went down on the John Kilpatrick Turnpike and were spread across all four lanes at Britton Road in Canadian County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. The power lines were cleared by 6 a.m. and the turnpike reopened, the patrol reported.
Oklahoma City meanwhile, reported 141,328 outages Wednesday, with 237,901 statewide.
Freezing temperatures caused more ice early Wednesday, and heavy rain was moving into Canadian County before dawn.
El Reno had 5,713 outages Wednesday morning.
There were 2,168 outages reported in Mustang Wednesday morning.
