EL RENO — The Canadian County Treasurer’s office has made some changes for collecting payments due to COVID-19, Treasurer Carolyn Leck reports.

“Due to COVID-19, the Treasurer’s office is utilizing the lockbox payment system for our mailed in payments. This is extremely efficient but does take a few more days for a check to clear the bank of origin.”

“ We also have installed a drop box in the west wall of our office (visible when you pull through the parking lot), and have an updated website with more security,

“As one of my responsibilities is to ensure the safety of the workplace for my employees, we are working rotating shifts of four which is difficult during any time of the year. I am asking for people’s patience and understanding of the times to please utilize the website to check if your check has been posted or to email any questions or concerns and to please allow a two week period from the time you mailed your payment until the time when you see if it has cleared your bank to help ease the burden of an extreme number of calls while those working in office are helping people at the counter,” Leck reports.

The Treasurer’s office is at 201 N. Choctaw Ave. in El Reno.
