The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes have announced the opening of an improved section of roadway completed in cooperation with Canadian County officials.

The Concho North Road improvement project has been completed, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony opened the road on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

The project was completed by an agreement between Canadian County Commissioners, the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Department of Transportation Southern Plains Regional Office.

The project improved 4.6 miles of county road NS 2810, Reformatory Road, in Canadian County located north of Concho from Black Kettle Road 2.6 miles north to N.W. 192/EW 0930, and east 2 miles to U.S. Highway 81. New asphalt, drainage and relocation of utilities and construction has been completed. The cost was about $3.5 million.
