E. Scott Cornelius, lovingly known as “Dad” and “Papaw”, was born on August 29, 1962 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and passed away on March 8, 2021. Scott was the child of Roy Earnest and Peggy Lou Cornelius. Scott graduated from Yukon High School in 1980. He was an avid member of the Yukon High School Band where he served as drum major. He enjoyed time with his friends and every aspect of music including chorus, church choir and going to concerts. In his later years, Scott loved working out, swimming, biking, and going to Thunder games. Scott married Brenda Boswell on April 5, 1986. They celebrated 34 wonderful years together. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. He adored his grandchildren and loved spoiling them and taking them on family vacations. On any adventure he loved taking shortcuts and going to extremes. Scott had a successful career in the golf industry prior to joining the insurance industry in 2006 by continuing the legacy of his father, Earnie Cornelius who opened ECI Agency in 1964. The next generation will be continuing this legacy. He brought with him expertise of more than 20 years of retail management and worked to make the agency a modern business. In 15 short years he became a leader in many of the organizations associated with the Insurance Industry. He was well respected throughout the industry and was always open to assisting other agents with any needs they might have. Scott is survived by his wife Brenda and five children, Ryan and wife Linda, Ashlie, Alex and wife Beth, Cody and wife Christin, and Emily, three grandsons Kyle, Cooper, and Ben and granddaughter Aubrey. Scott is also survived by his parents, Earnie and Peggy Cornelius, both of his sisters, Denise Johnson and Joy, his brother, Roland and numerous nieces and nephews. Scott’s faith in God and acceptance of Jesus and His provision and grace sustained throughout his life and he has now passed into his new life through salvation into God’s plan for eternity. Scott would want you to know, no, he did not have COVID. Funeral services will be coordinated by Matthews Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2021 at Memorial Road Church of Christ.
