Okarche FFA students take home awards from a recent state contest.

The Okarche FFA students have been recognized for their recent top finishes in state contests, said instructor Cody Dean.

Mackenzie Schneiter placed was first runner-up in employment skills.

The Okarche FFA Agricultural Issues team included Jasmin Barcenas, Tyson Endres, Tori Spomer, Jaycee Taylor, Amanda Carranza, and Jalie Rother. As a part of this contest, the agricultural issues team presented forums to agricultural interest groups about a topic impacting agriculture on local, state or national levels. They started working on this project in October, and have now presented to more than 50 stakeholders in the agricultural industry. They placed second runner up in the state contest, Dean said.

Okarche students who qualified for the area speech contest included Angelica Mojica who placed first in plant science, Jace Rother placed third overall in 9th grade FFA opportunities, Blake Henrichs placed second overall in extemporaneous speaking, Cassye Mayo placed thirdd overall in natural resources and Bridget Himes who placed fourth overall in agriscience.

In the public speaking division, Angelica Mojica and Blake Henrichs both qualified for state in speech. Blake Henrichs placed fifth overall in extemporaneous speaking.

The marketing plan team members of Hannah Goble, Bridget Himes and Angelica Mojica placed first in state and qualified for nationals. In Agricultural Education,
Ryen Wittrock was the 7th high individual in the state contest.
