For the third consecutive season, Head Coach Brandon Treece’s Okarche Lady Warriors softball team has improved on their season record.

This spring, the slow pitch team finished 16-8. The team won their district tournament, but then fell to Shattuck in the regional tournament.

“I thought we played really well,” Treece said. “This is the third year in a row we won more games than the previous season.”

The team will return six of nine starters.

There will be a few summer games and then fast pitch softball in the fall.

The team has pitchers and batters returning. Returning will be Karsyn Vallerand, who will be a senior, Emma Stover, who will be a junior in the fall. Jadyn Arms and
Haley Coffey are seniors who will graduate this spring.

“We have a good nucleus coming back. So we just need a few pieces to put together,” Treece said. “We’ve got a chance to be even better.”

The team won their district tournament with an 18-7 win over Ringwood April 26. They also beat Ringwood 18-15 in the first game of the day.

The girls defeated Drummond, 13-2 April 22 after losing to Oklahoma Bible Academy 8-9 in extra innings on April 22. Before that game, they had a seven game winning streak with wins over Union City, 11-10, april 13; Calumet, 13-3, April 12; Kingfisher, 17-6, April 6; Geary, 6-3, April 5; Hennessey, 16-2, April 2 and Watonga, 10-2 on April 1.
