Loretta Forkey

Loretta was born December 31, 1932, in Okarche, daughter of Ralph Leonard and Naomi Faye (Jackson) Fickess.

She served the community in a variety of positions, employed by Okarche Grain Elevator, Okarche City Offices, First Bank of Okarche, and retired from FirstNational Bank of El Reno as a Loan Officer and Vice President.  In her retirement, she was a volunteer for Youth Literacy. Loretta was a member of Holy Trinity Church and Altar Society.

On September 27, 1952, Loretta married Roy W. Forkey. Roy preceded her in death on September 3, 2011.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Ralph Mitchell “Mitch” Forkey; brother, Donald Leo Fickess; and son-in-law, Barry Charles McClung.

Loretta is survived by a son, Michael Forkey and wife, Glenda, of Midwest City; daughters, Lori Fortier of Evergreen, Colorado and Lisa Fortier of Okarche; sister, Margaret Janet Biller of Okarche; grandchildren, Michelle Goodnight, Ryan McClung, and Kelsey McClung; a great grandson, Brandt Goodnight.

Loretta’s family and friends knew her to be a beautiful person, both inside and out; so generous, so kind. She believed education was invaluable, was unfailing in perseverance when life was harsh and was steadfast in her convictions. You could often find her reading a book, puzzling out her daily Crypt-o-quote, snipping on her plants and flowers or simply sharing stories of her wonderful life with one and all.

Loretta’s family was her first priority and greatest joy.  She will be remembered affectionately as “Ret” or “G-Spice”, a beloved spouse (life-long dance partner), mother, and grandmother.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate in her memory to The Stephenson Cancer Center for cancer research. To donate visit https://giving.oufoundation.org/OnlineGivingWeb/Giving/OnlineGiving/CancerInst
