Slow down! Schools open Thursday

Fines for speeders in school zones could be more than double the usual penalty starting Thursday, Aug. 12.

And police officers will be watching closely, as students return to classrooms at Okarche Schools Thursday for the fall semester.

 

Okarche Police Lt. Kyle Bridges is on patrol and watching for speeders near schools for the 2021-2022 year.

There are more than 400 students are enrolled in Okarche Public Schools this year, slightly more than at this time last year. Holy Trinity Catholic School has also opened for the fall semester. Holy Trinity’s first day of school for pre-kindergarten to eighth grade students was Wednesday, Aug. 11.
