The El Reno Fire Department sent a brush pumper, command unit and a tanker to the scene. Okarche had two brush pumpers and a tanker, while FCI El Reno had a pumper and tanker on scene and C&A provided a tanker.

Okarche Lt. Patrick Stangl worked to hose down a hot spot which rekindled into flames.

Volunteer firefighter Chase Huffnagel and others kept high grass doused with water until the fire was contained.

High winds coupled with hot temperatures have increased the fire danger in central and western parts of Oklahoma in recent days.

There were no injuries reported, and no structures burned in the wildfire Friday. Read The Okarche Warrior and follow okarchewarrior.com for updates to local news.
