The Town of Okarche trustees approved plans for a new sign on the south side of town for the Ford dealership.

An application had been submitted by David Griesel for a sign at 1724 234th N.W. at Mainer Ford.

A free-standing sign has been permitted by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. The sign will be in compliance with Okarche municipal codes. The height will be 25 feet and width 42 feet, town trustees report.

The total height off the ground is 35 feet on a pole. It will be a two-sided sign.

The outdoor advertising sign will be for Mainer Ford, Griesel said. Griesel said he has had a permit for the sign for years. Griesel sold Griesel Motor to Mainer Ford in 2015. He had the permit for a big billboard in 2002, but did not have a sign built at that time.

The sign is subject to the Okarche Board of Adjustments, and the plan has been on file with the town clerk.

The property has been zoned agricultural, and no change in zoning is required.

Town trustees Matt Blackwood, Mayor Jeff Sadler and Jeff Brueggen approved the plan Monday, Dec. 20 at a regular meeting.

The address for the sign listed, 1724 234 N.W. is the current location of Mainer Ford and Owners of the property located on the west side of U.S. 81 are Arnold E Griesel and The Ronald K Griesel Family Trust .
