Oilfield explosion hurts two people west of Okarche

An explosion at an oil production site hurt two people near Okarche Monday afternoon, officials reported.

Crews remained on the scene about 3:20 p.m., a town spokeswoman said.

Two trucks appeared to have caught fire, said El Reno Tribune photographer Glen Miller who was on the scene Monday afternoon.

The fire was about 4 miles west of U.S. 81 on N.W. 248/Waterloo Road. Okarche Fire Chief Steve Liebl could not be reached Monday afternoon. Crews from Piedmont also responded to the fire, a town clerk reported.

Kingfisher County Sheriff Dennis Banther said two people were injured in the explosion.
