Okarche speech students win sweepstakes trophy

Eight Okarche High School speech students brought home the class 3A Sweepstakes trophy from the Crescent High School Invitational Speech Tournament.

Senior Kenzie Beard placed first in poetry and fourth in original oratory.

Marley Hill, another OHS senior, was second in two eventsdramatic interpretation and original oratory.

Three Okarche juniors were successful in the qualifying division.

Wyatt Lovins was first in dramatic interpretation and teamed with Brody Sadler to place first in humorous duet.

Sadler was also first in domestic extemporaneous. Riley Black was third in original oratory.

Chloe Goble, a sophomore, brought home the first-place medal in monologue. 

OHS also entered three students in the open championship division.

Junior Kylie Bailey was tournament champion in original oratory and dramatic interpretation.

Sophomores Chloe Goble and Afton Shirey won the championship division of humorous duet.

As the competition was the last qualifying tournament of the speech season, the Okarche speech team will turn its attention to the regional contest.

OHS will take 19 students in 41 events to the competition set March 25-26 on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus.
