Okarche High School’s 26-member Class of 2022 will take their first steps into a larger world Friday, as they complete their years as Okarche students in a ceremony that for many is a dozen years in the making.

Commencement ceremonies are set for 7 p.m. Friday at Okarche High School’s gymnasium, with photos scheduled for 5 p.m. It is then and there the members of the Class of 2022 will have a chance to reflect back on the highs and the lows of their time as Warriors – the days of classwork, from the playground to the library to the baseball diamond, choir competitions, band and choir, debate and speech and so much more.

Each member of Okarche’s Class of 2022 brings something special to the table – unique talents and dreams, wishes and goals. Among the graduating class are four Valedictorians and two Salutatorians:

Valedictorians:

Adyson Arms

Trenton Neiderer

Mackenzie Schneiter

Ryen Wittrock

Salutatorians:

Abigail McIlvain

McKenzie Stewart

Those milestones encompass a school career that includes something only a few classes before them know about firsthand – a pandemic that tested their resolve and commitment to their studies. But it was for many an opportunity not only to persevere but to shine in a situation in no way of their making, administrators said.

It was those traits – and many others – shared by the students encompassing the Class of 2022 that made those who had the honor to teach and mentor them through the years so proud, officials said.

Congratulations, graduates – you made it, and your community is so, so proud of you. We look forward to seeing what you do next.
