Kingfisher Creative will celebrate the arts while honoring one of its most active members during its 2022 Festival of the Arts, set for June 4.

That member is Scott Osborn, a longtime Kingfisher Creative member who spearheaded many of the organization’s festivals in the past. Osborn, 53, died March 1. In addition to his leadership at Kingfisher Creative, he headed Kingfisher in Lights, organized the Twister Relief benefit concert and was named Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce’s Volunteer and Citizen of the Year.

“He was an amazing person – we wanted to dedicate this festival to Scott, to honor him for all he did, not only for the festival and Kingfisher Creative, but to our community at large,” Kingfisher Creative President Mike Brown said.

Hand-drawn portraits of Osborn and “Live Like Scott” cards would be sold at the event – with proceeds from sales of those items going to Jase’s Magic Closet, Brown said. That nonprofit was created by Children’s Hospital Foundation in honor of Jase Bollenbach, who died April 16.

The Kingfisher boy – who maintained a close friendship with Osborn – battled cancer nearly all of his life, officials said. Jase’s Magic Closet provides toys and gifts to children receiving treatment at Children’s Hospital.

The annual arts festival was founded in 2013. Admission to the event is free of charge. Organizers are expecting to present live art demonstrations, including glass blowing, basket weaving and painting; there will be vendors from across the state, as well as live music, food trucks, snow cones, face painting, crafts and more, Brown said.

The Saturday event is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be held at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds’ exhibit building.
