John Charles Hauenstein

John Charles “Chuck” Hauenstein passed away from his earthly home on Nov. 26, 2022. Chuck was born in El Reno, on Dec. 7, 1960, to Joe and Shirleen Hauenstein.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in El Reno, with Rev. Lance Warren officiating.

Chuck attended El Reno Public Schools, graduating in 1980.  He worked as a lineman for OG&E for 30+ years, retiring at age 55 as the El Reno foreman.  Instead of taking it easy, he went right to work as an oilfield inspector, then as an accessor and worked in safety for Center Phase, OSR and others.   He even traveled out of country to help to restore electricity to storm damaged areas.

Chuck married Kathy Williams on June 24, 2000.  They loved to travel as often as they could with their many friends and family.  They really enjoyed the big family vacations with all the grandkids as the family grew.  Chuck was an avid snow skier and loved teaching the grands to ski.  He also enjoyed scuba diving, but the mountains were his favorite.  Chuck was a Jack-of-all-trades and able to build or fix anything.  Chuck was a very selfless person, dropping whatever he was doing to help anyone in need at any time.  Chuck’s smile could brighten anyone’s day.

Chuck married Kim Davis in 1982, and out of their union Megan was born.  When he married Kathy he gained a son, Tyler.  Together they created a wonderfully blended family.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Kathy, of the home and their children, Megan Bias (Mike) of Okarche; Tyler (Kristen) McCann of Kingfisher; brother, Mike (Judy) Hauenstein, of Dallas, Texas; and sisters, Lori (Doug) Revel and Kristi (Bill) Hawkins of El Reno. Chuck is also survived by his grandchildren, Kyden, Tate, Olivia, Sage, Cade and Blake, as well as nieces and nephews Josh (Brett) Hawkins, K’Risa (Jeremy) Robyler, K’Leigh (Tyler) Headley, J.T. (Brittany) Revel and numerous other family and friends.

Burial will be in the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
