Garry James Liebl passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Dec. 20, 2022, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Garry was born July 22, 1943. He grew up in Loyal, Oklahoma, and graduated from Loyal High School. Following high school, he went to work for Aero Commander alongside his father and brothers. Additionally, he served in the National Guard Reserve for nine years. After some time, he went to work at GE, sharpening his trade skills. Lastly, he took a job at Seagate Technology, where he worked for 33 years, finishing as a production manager.

On August 26, 1967, Garry married his beloved, Theresa Grellner. Throughout their 55 years of marriage, they raised six beautiful children, traveled to various amazing places and shared many a night swing dancing together.

Garry, a longtime Okarche resident, was a proud member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister and lector. He was also a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic School Board, Parish Council, Catholic Order of Foresters and the Fourth Degree Order of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Faithful Navigator. He was incredibly selfless with his time and intentional with his every action.

Following retirement, Garry spent the majority of his days with his family, in prayer or tinkering out in his wood shop. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed many years with them, as both Dad and Grandpa. He was a man of great humility and a devout Catholic, with discipline and dedication to his faith that was admired by many. Garry had a generous heart complimented by an engineer’s mind. His passion was carpentry, a passion he shared with his own father and several of his brothers and sons. This love for handiwork is evident in the multitude of meaningful woodworking projects he created for his loved ones and for the church.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer J. and Marie Hoehner Liebl; and brother, Charles J. Liebl.

Garry is survived by his wife, Theresa; children, Cindy Shelley, Stephen (Brittany) Liebl, Suzanne (Will) Stephens, Michael (Phuong) Liebl, William Liebl and Shawn Davsion; siblings, Tom (Barbara) Liebl, Marti (Tom) Rother and Elmer Liebl, Jr.; sister-in-law, Joyce Liebl; and grandchildren, Abbey, Laura, Laney, Garrett, Hayden, Grant, Matthew, Mikayla, Madelyn, Macey, Madison, Rhian and Reagan.

The vigil for Garry will be at 7 p.m. Monday (Dec. 26) and Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 27). Both services will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Okarche, with Rev. Cory Stanley and Deacons Max Schwarz and Charles Krumsiek officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery under the direction of Huber Benson Funeral Home.
