Dasie Hufnagel Weisenburger

Dasie Hufnagel Weisenburger passed away peacefully on March 4, 2023.

Dasie was born on Feb. 26, 1930, in Calumet to Russell and Alice (Gill) LeFever. She grew up in Calumet and attended Calumet High School, where she played basketball and softball. Dasie graduated in 1948 as valedictorian of her class. Later she took various college courses; those at OU were her favorite.

An avid fan of OU football, Dasie attended the games in Norman for 46 years. One of her favorite hobbies was bowling, were she spent years in leagues and traveled to numerous competitions.

She retired from USF&G Insurance Company’s branch office in Oklahoma City with 32 years of service. Dasie was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.   She was instrumental in the reopening of Sacred Heart School and the founding of Birth Choice of El Reno in 1994, which is now Love for the Children Center. After 27 years of service, she stepped down from Birth Choice. She traveled extensively, visiting Russia, Denmark, the Netherlands, Romania, Italy, France, Switzerland, Ireland, England, Israel, Iran and Belgium.

Dasie is survived by sons, Bill Maberry and Bradley Maberry; stepchildren, Bishop Edward Weisenburger, Mary Jung and Adena Keller; grandchildren, Donnie Maberry, Candie Williams and Cherie Maberry; great-grandchildren, Alex, Wesley, Destiny, Noah, David and Luke; nieces, Donna Dennis, Lori Piller and Leann Collier; and many friends.

Her parents; brothers, Charley LeFever, Clyde LeFever, Claude LeFever and her twin, Donnie LeFever; sisters, Eleanor Dorrah and Dorothy LeFever; and spouses, Bill Maberry, Charles Hufnagel and Ed Weisenburger, preceded her in death.

A vigil service will be held 7 p.m. Friday evening, March 10, in the Benson Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 11, at Sacred Heart Church with Bishop Edward Weisenburger, Rev. Lance Warren and Deacon Lloyd Menz officiating.  Burial services will follow at the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
