Jordan Cannon, a former Okarche police officer who worked as a Cleveland County Sheriff’s deputy, was shot and killed in her southwest Oklahoma City home in eastern Canadian County early Wednesday, and her husband, Vaughn Cannon who also is a deputy, has been arrested.
Okarche Police Chief Forrest Smith said he hired Jordan Cannon in March 2019 after she had started her career as an El Reno police officer.
“The presence of Jordan in our community was a true blessing. Her dedication, compassion and unwavering commitment to keeping us safe made a profound impact on all of us,” Smith said. “She went above and beyond her call of duty, building bridges of trust and showing immense care for the well-being of every resident and child. Her loss is deeply felt, but her legacy will forever be etched in the hearts and minds of those whose lives she touched. We are forever grateful for her service and the lasting impact she had on our community.”
Both husband and wife were current Cleveland County Sheriff’s deputies. They lived near Sara Road and SW 29 just southeast of Yukon.
Vaughn Cannon, 40, has been booked at the Canadian County jail in connection with the shooting death. The couple lived in southwest Oklahoma City, and Oklahoma City police are investigating the case.
Oklahoma City police reported homicide investigators were called to 10913 SW 30th about 2 a.m. Wednesday on a domestic disturbance and possible shooting. When police arrived, Jordan Cannon, 40, was found dead, and police arrested Vaughn Cannon, police reported.

On the Okarche Police Department Facebook page Smith posted, “Although it may feel like the world has dimmed without her presence, remember that love is a light that never truly fades. Tonight as you travel through our little town…you’ll notice we went pink. It’s our way of letting Jordan know she is in our hearts, her family and colleagues in our prayers. Hopefully, they shine bright enough to light the streets of heaven.”
“This heinous act not only robs us of a dedicated and courageous public servant, but it also shakes the very foundations of the community she served. Our thoughts and prayers are with Deputy Cannon’s family, friends, and colleagues as they navigate through this unimaginable pain and grief.”
