The Lady Warriors five-game win streak came to a halt Monday against a top-ranked team in Class A.
Okarche had extended their win streak to five Saturday afternoon with a win over Covington-Douglas 16-0. The romp followed a Friday night run fest with a 10-3 victory over Dover.
Monday they faced the 5th-ranked team in the state at 4 p.m. at home when Ripley visits. Ripley is the hometown of Okarche Coach Skye Tilley. Tilley said the girls are playing with more confidence and were ready to face the test. Ripley had a 24-5 record and Okarche stood at 15-5.
Ripley won 7-2.
Okarche bounced back against Calumet after the loss
On Saturday, Sept. 16 against Dover, Madison Nance had three hits. She singled in the second inning and drove in two runs. Nance was the starting pitcher, and she gave up four hits and three runs.
Okarche was on a three-game win streak before Friday with wins over Waynoka, 10-0 Sept. 8, Dover, 8-0, and Mulhall-Orlando by a score of 15-5 on Sept. 9.
After the Ripley game, Monday, Sept. 18, Okarche was scheduled to go up against Calumet. Okarche defeated Calumet Aug. 28 by a score of 14-0.
The district tournament is Sept. 20-23. Okarche will play in the Garber district. Tilley said she is happy with the team’s draw.
