Okarche baseball to play #2-ranked Wister in state tourney opener

First game is Thursday, Oct. 5 at Edmond Memorial High School

The state tournament is next for the Okarche Warriors fall baseball campaign and it will be in Edmond.

Should the Warriors win Thursday and play Friday, there will be no school in the district.

The Warriors play at 6:30 p.m. against Wister Thursday at Edmond Memorial High School.

The Warriors were ranked 9th in the state and Wister was ranked 2nd on Monday, Oct. 2. 

Okarche has posted a 25-4 record and Wister stood at 24-4 overall.

Also making the tournament were Oktaha, Preston, Dale, Silo, Rattan, and Wright City.

Thursday games at Edmond Memorial Field start at 11 a.m. with Oktaha and Preston. The winner will play at 11 a.m. Friday against the winner of the 1:30 p.m. Thursday game between Dale and Silo.

The winner of the Rattan and Wright City game 4 p.m. Thursday will face the winner of Okarche and Wister at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Wednesday afternoon, Superintendent Josh Sumrall announced that the district would not have classes Friday so students, staff and families could attend the game in Edmond.

The bracket for the Class A fall baseball state tournament has been released.
