They took down the second-ranked team in Class A baseball in a game that finished early Friday, and the Okarche Warriors fall baseball team looked to do the same to the third-ranked team Friday afternoon at Edmond Memorial High School’s baseball park.

The Warriors, 26-4, beat Wister, then ranked second in the state, 5-0 on plenty of smart base running and standout plays in the field in the first game of the state tournament, a game delayed more than four hours.

On Saturday, Rattan defeated Silo 4-1 to win the Class A state tournament.

On Friday, the Warriors were tied with Rattan until the sixth inning when the pitching fell apart.

Rattan and Silo will play for the title Saturday at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Rattan, 30-4, eliminated Wright City Thursday night before Okarche and Wister got underway about 11 p.m.

Oktaha, the top-ranked team, defeated Preston Thursday. Oktaha faced Silo Friday in a game that started before noon and lost to the team from Bryan County.

Rattan took a lead over Okarche in the bottom of the sixth inning with a four-run explosion and they led 5-1.

In the first inning, Okarche pitcher Luke Hill scored the Warriors lone run.

Easton Roby got in a rundown between first and second bases, and Hill scored from third base and Roby safely made it back to base.

The game seemed to be mired down in a pitching duel until the four-run inning for Rattan in the bottom of the sixth.

Hill was pulled from the mound and Roby took over pitching duties. Roby held Wister to two runs in the late Thursday game.
