Madison Nance, an Okarche senior center fielder and pitcher on the softball team, has announced plans to sign a letter of intent to play outfield for Northeastern State University at Tahlequah, said Okarche Head Coach Skye Tilley.
Nance was recently recognized by the All-Region Three Small West coaches as a third utility player for her strong showings as a pitcher infielder and outfielder in fall fastpitch softball. The Lady Warriors finished their season 18-13.
Nance is also on the Okarche Lady Warriors basketball team. Tilley is an assistant coach for Head Coach Haley Mitchel’s basketball team.
In softball, Nance was a go-to senior player.
“Madison filled a lot of roles for Okarche,” Tilley said. “She pitched some. She played shortstop some. She played outfield some, but she is being recruited to play outfield for NSU,” Tilley said. “She was nominated because of the senior class her stats were the best.”
Tilley said coaches from the region in Class B, A and 2A. Players were nominated for all-region teams.
Tilley said she is looking forward to the spring softball season as well.
“I’m excited for spring. I think we got a little bit of a taste for what it is like to win. So I think they will come back really hungry,” Tilley said.
