Okarche School Board President Ryan McIlvain has decided to run for a chance to stay on the board for five more years.
The filing period for anyone who wants to run for the seat, position 4 on the board, opens Monday, Dec. 4 and ends Wednesday, Dec. 6. Filings can be made at the Kingfisher County Election Board.
McIlvain said he wants to continue his work to keep the district “great.”
“After countless community members asking me to run for re-election and considerable thought and prayer, I have decided to run for re-election to the Okarche School Board in order to ensure that Okarche’s outstanding schools continue to best serve the students, teachers, faculty, and community,” McIlvain wrote in a statement about his decision.
“Keep Okarche great!,” McIlvain wrote.
McIlvain is the current board president with vice president Robert Anderson in position 5, clerk Jarrod Mueggenborg, position 1, deputy clerk Heather Nance in position 2, and parliamentarian Joe Alig, position 3 on the board.
Candidates can file at the Kingfisher County Election Board, 101 S. Main Street #8 in Kingfisher between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
If more than two candidates file for position 4 a primary election would be Tuesday, Feb. 13. If two candidates file the election would be Tuesday, April 2.
