Okarche’s sophomore basketball standout Jett Mueggenborg scored his 1,000th point for the Warriors in their regional tournament championship game Saturday night at home.
Okarche’s boys team downed Pond Creek-Hunter Saturday night, Feb. 17, 68-54.

Girls advance
The Okarche Lady Warriors advanced from the loser’s bracket in the Class A regional tournament at home Friday afternoon with a win over Glencoe and then took the Saturday consolation game trophy home.
The girls beat Pond Creek-Hunter 37 to 26 Saturday behind a 20-point effort from Jadyn Rother.
The girls downed Glencoe 45-35 behind 11-point efforts apiece for Jadyn Rother and Katie Parham.
On Friday, Scout Payne, had 9 points, Ruby VanDendriessche had 8 points, and Avery Schieber added six more.
Boys win Thursday night
In the opening round of the regional tournament in Class A, the Okarche boys downed Hominy 88-56 in a home game Thursday.
Jett Mueggenborg was the leading scorer for the Warriors with a 31-point night.
Hominy led early in the game, but Okarche took a 14-13 lead over Hominy with 3:12 left in the first quarter.
The fast-paced Warriors took command of the game pushing the ball up the court with fast-breaks, and full-court presses to pull ahead.
Okarche had a seven-point lead over Hominy, 26-19 at the end of the first quarter.
Steals on defense that led to layups by Hunter and Jett Mueggenborg helped build a six-point lead. But cold outside shooting by the Warriors helped Hominy stay close.
Hunter Mueggenborg hit a three-pointer as the Warriors shooting warmed up from outside in the second quarter.
Hunter Mueggenborg drew a charge and made two free throws and Okarche led at the end of the first quarter.
Okarche started to pull away in the second quarter, building a 17-point lead and went into halftime ahead 49-32.
Girls lose in tourney opener
The girls lost to Oklahoma Bible Academy Thursday night. The final score was OBA 44 Okarche Lady Warriors 39. Jadyn Rother had the team high 15 points in the loss.
The girls will continue their season at Woodward 6 p.m. Thursday.
