Caden Schieber wrestled away a win from #2 Rattan in Class A basketball Thursday night in the state tournament.
With six offensive rebounds and 11 more defensive rebounds, Schieber was the factor the Rams could not overcome in the game at the Jim Norick State Fair Arena, and Okarche left the big house with a nine-point win, 63-54, on leap day, Feb. 29.
Schieber also put back many of those rebounds, and he had 14 points. He had a three-pointer with the Warriors down seven points early in the game to cut the deficit to four. From there, Okarche proved to be too strong in the paint for Rattan to stay in the game.

“He (Caden) came to play tonight,” A smiling Coach Aaron West said as players and fans celebrated after the final buzzer. “He had nine offensive boards at halftime. That was huge. He came to play. It was the best performance by him in his life.”
Jett Mueggenborg ended up with 18 points. Easton Roby had 13 points as the Warriors pulled away in the fourth quarter.

“It was awesome. I loved it,” Coach West said about the Thursday night game that ended about 11 p.m. There was no school scheduled in Okarche Friday as a day off was already planned.
Okarche, 25-4 on the season, will face #3 Sentinel at 6 p.m. Friday at the State Fair Arena. Sentinel had a 29-1 record after beating Red Oak Thursday night to advance to the Friday game with Okarche.
In an upset Thursday, Seiling downed #1 ranked Okay 54-52. Okarche beat Seiling in the area tournament.
