Elise Turner, 70, of Okarche, OK, passed away on March 27, 2024.
Elise was born on November 10, 1953 to Mary Ann King (Parker) and Henry Duran Cordova in Fort Worth, TX, and her feisty personality and determination were evident even in early childhood. After graduating from Bridgeport High School in 1971, Elise went on to study at Cisco Junior College where she met her husband John Timothy “Tim” Turner of Sweetwater, Texas while she was walking on campus. Her family liked to joke with her that her husband picked her up on the street. Tim’s ability to ride wheelies on his motorcycle from one end of the campus to the other is what sealed the deal. Tim and Elise were married on July 21, 1972 and welcomed two children, Jennifer Renee Turner currently of Vienna, Austria and John Timothy Turner Jr, currently of Fort Worth, Texas.
Elise’s talent for sewing and interior decorating was well-recognized and in demand such that she opened her own business creating custom drapes and bedding. Elise was dedicated to her community and retired in 2016 from her job as the Town Clerk of Okarche after spending 38 years supporting the city.
Elise traveled the world from a young age with her father and later with her husband and kids. Many beautiful family memories were created in Hawaii, Czech Republic, Switzerland, New Zealand, and Germany just to name a few. She enjoyed reading, decorating and most especially spending time with her husband, kids, and granddaughter, Adriana Elise who was named after her.
Elise touched many lives including her medical caregivers over the last years. Her family was told on many occasions that she was one of their favorite patients, and they appreciated her positive attitude, wit, and kindness. When she was ready to leave this world, she said, “let’s rock and roll.” That is a fitting statement for Elise as she went into all things with passion and gumption.
Elise was predeceased by her mother, Mary Ann and Father Henry. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Tim, her daughter Jennifer, son John, and granddaughter Adriana as well as her beloved sisters and brothers Bruce Cordova (Suzanne), Teresa Terrell (Mark), Deeanna Rennebaum (Rob), Ed Cordova, Pam Statton (Scott), James King (Donna), Rob King (Heather), Bryan Nahrwold (Martha).
The family will be holding private services.
