Two people from Yukon were killed in a two-vehicle traffic collision last Friday night near Okarche in northwest Canadian County.

Javier Ocampo-Ojeda, 61, and Reyna Pallares Reyes, 65, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that occurred about 10 p.m. June 14 on U.S. Highway 81 and 192nd Street NW.

Ocampo-Ojeda was driving a 2007 Nissan Armada westbound on 192nd Street when he tried to cross US-81 and was struck by a northbound 2019 Kenworth semi-truck, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol fatality collision report.

Ocampo-Ojeda and Reyes, who was a passenger in the Nissan Armada, died from injuries sustained in the collision.

Semi driver Arthur L. Setzer, 49, was taken by a Pafford EMS ambulance to Integris Baptist Medical Center with possible head and neck trauma. The Fairview resident was admitted to the hospital in fair condition.

The conditions of the drivers were “apparently normal” and the cause of the collision is “under investigation,” the OHP report indicates.

Both drivers and the passengers were all wearing their seatbelts and the airbags were deployed in the Nissan Armada.

Last Friday night’s double-fatality was investigated by OHP trooper Randy Rumley of the Troop A Canadian County detachment.

Assisting trooper Rumley were the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office, Okarche Fire Department and Pafford EMS.
