Okarche baseball bowed to a top-ranked team from Class B on Monday, Sept. 9.
The Warriors faced the 2nd-ranked team in Class B Monday in a battle with Fort Cobb – Broxton of Caddo County on Monday, Sept. 9. Fort Cobb – Broxton had a 16-4 record, and they prevailed 5-3. Okarche’s record is 12-3.
The Warriors opened the first inning with a triple from Luke Hill and built a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the third inning. But the Mustangs’ bats heated up and the Warriors trailed 4-3 after three innings with pitcher Brett Carnott on the mound. He was relieved by Jett Mueggenborg.
Trailing 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning, Easton Roby singled on a hard-hit ground ball to the pitcher. Roby stole second. Brett Carnott lined out to right field. With two outs, Mueggenborg grounded out, ending the threat. A line drive double drove in another run and Fort Cobb-Broxton took a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, the final score.
The team was ranked third in the state for Class A by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association Friday, Sept. 6.
