BOYS BASKETBALL: THREE RIVERS TOURNAMENT

ENID – Okarche won two games in the 2020 Three Rivers Conference Tournament last weekend, improving to 10-6 with just over one month remaining in the regular season.

The Warriors opened the tournament with a 53-40 win over Thomas-Fay-Custer. Logan Kroener and Evan Endres led the way, Kroener scoring 28 points with seven rebounds while Endres scored 19 points with two boards. P.K. Harris chipped in six points off the bench.
Okarche jumped out to a 12-9 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, building a 26-18 advantage going into halftime. The Warriors followed with a 12-10 run in the third quarter and a 15-12 run in the fourth to close out the victory.

The Warriors fell to Class 3A No. 10 Hennessey 51-49 in the semifinals last Friday.
It was a 14-9 run in the fourth quarter that guided the Eagles past Okarche. The Warriors built a 15-9 lead in the first quarter before giving it up and entering halftime trailing 23-22. Okarche regained the lead in the third quarter with a 18-14 run before Hennessey’s comeback in the final eight minutes.

Kroener led the team with 19 points while Kaleb Harris chipped in 15. Endres scored four points, Joseph Schaefer scored and Brayden Stover scored three, Koby Mingus, Harris and Kody King each scored two. Schaefer led the team with 12 rebounds.

The Warriors closed out the tournament with a dominant, 65-43 win over Watonga Saturday.

Watonga jumped out to a 19-14 lead after the first quarter before a 15-4 run by Okarche in the second and a 25-12 run in the third. The Warriors closed out the win with a 11-8 run in the fourth quarter.

Harris led the team with 35 points while also grabbing seven rebounds. Schaefer scored 10 points and grabbed 12 boards for a double-double. Kroener scored nine points, Endres scored eight and Harris scored three.

The Warriors enter the week at 10-6 and have won four of their last five games. They host Thomas Friday night before traveling to Hennessey for a rematch Tuesday night. Tip off for both games is scheduled for 8 p.m.
