Some of the post-class commitments expected of students are: one day of phone training, 30 hours of phone duty and 30 hours of service with the Master Gardeners. Phone training occurs during January, when upcoming phone duty details are released. The first shift of phone duty is done in the office. The following shifts can be completed in the office or at one of the Canadian County Master Gardener information booths in the community, such as Lowe’s Garden Center information booths in Yukon and Mustang and the Wildhorse Gardens & Market information booth in Mustang.

The 30 service hours can be fulfilled through multiple avenues, from participating in Canadian County Master Gardener event booths, such as Festival of the Child in Yukon, to assisting the Canadian County Extension Horticulture Educator with library programs and community presentations. Participants will also have the opportunity to serve on various Master Gardener committees.
