Tornado warning issued for Okarche and Kingfisher

A tornado warning was issued for Okarche and Kingfisher at 4:37 p.m. Saturday by the National Weather Service.

A system capable of producing a tornado was spotted near Calumet and moving northeast,

the weather service reported. The warning was issued until 5:30 p.m. for people in Okarche and Kingfisher.

At 4:37 p.m. a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 5 miles northwest of Calumet, moving northeast at 35 mph.

Hazards include a tornado, and golf ball size hail. Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris can be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is possible, the weather service reports.

The warning covered northern Canadian and southern Kingfisher counties.
